  • Silky Texture and Foliage: Silky Dogwood gets its name from the silky texture of its leaves. The foliage is soft and attractive, adding a unique tactile element to the landscape. The leaves are ovate and green in color, creating a lush appearance.
  • White Clusters of Flowers: In late spring to early summer, Silky Dogwood produces flat-topped clusters of small, creamy white flowers. These clusters not only add visual appeal but also attract pollinators, such as bees and butterflies, making it a beneficial plant for supporting local wildlife.
  • Blue-White Berries: Following the flowering period, Silky Dogwood develops clusters of bluish-white berries. These berries are not only ornamental but also serve as a food source for birds, enhancing the shrub's value in wildlife-friendly landscapes.
  • Adaptability to Moist Soils: Silky Dogwood is well-suited for wetter conditions and is often found near streams or in low-lying areas. This adaptability to moist soils makes it an excellent choice for rain gardens, water-edge landscapes, or other areas with periodic water saturation.
  • Erosion Control and Stabilization: The dense and fibrous root system of Silky Dogwood makes it effective for erosion control and stabilizing soil along riverbanks or sloped landscapes. This feature can be emphasized when marketing to individuals looking for plants that contribute to soil conservation.

Care Instructions

Different plants have different watering needs. Check the soil moisture by inserting your finger about an inch into the soil. If it feels dry, water the plant until the water drains from the bottom of the pot. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot.
