- Size: Eastern white cedar is a medium-sized tree that can reach heights of 40 to 50 feet (12 to 15 meters), with a conical to columnar shape.
- Leaves: The leaves are scale-like and arranged in flattened sprays. The foliage is typically dark green.
- Cones: Eastern white cedar produces small cones that are about 1/2 inch long. The cones are often inconspicuous and may take up to a year to mature.
- Bark: The bark of young trees is reddish-brown, turning grayish-brown and developing furrows as the tree matures.
- Habitat: This cedar species is commonly found in a variety of habitats, including swamps, bogs, and wetlands. It is well-adapted to moist, acidic soils.
